Galangal root

Galangal root is an indispensable ingredient in the cuisine of the countries of Southeast Asia. This root comes from the same botanical family as ginger, but unlike it, it has a sharper taste with a slight citrus undertone. It is widely used in Thai cuisine to add spicy, subtle, sophisticated flavor to soups and vegetables, and to enhance curry pastes. Galangala root is the most important component of the well-known Thai soup "Tom Yam", Peking duck, goes well with vegetable snacks, fish and meat dishes, rice and beans.
